Detailed Itinerary - Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek (10 Days)
Our tour guide will fetch you from your location early in the morning and drop you at the tourist bus station, which is a ten-minute walk from Thamel. It will be nearly seven hours to arrive at Pokhara. After arrival at Pokhara, you can take rest or enjoy the natural scenery of the city of lakes. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Drive to Nayapul (1,070m) on day two for a two-hour journey from Pokhara with the stunning valleys and terraced fields encountered on the way with intermittent views of the majestic Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks.
Upon reaching Nayapul, the trek starts with a leisurely walk along the Modi Khola River to Birethanti, a thriving village with teahouses and a permit check post. From there, the trail moves on to climb moderately through Sudame and Hile, snaking its way through beautiful villages and rice fields to reach Tikhedhunga (1,540m) in about three to four hours. Despite the fact that the majority of trekkers overnight here, if you’re feeling strong, you can tackle the more than 3,000 stone steps steep climb to Ulleri (2,050m), a lovely Magar village that rewards with great views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Overnight either in Ulleri or Tikhedhunga, wrapped up and cozy in a hot teahouse.
Day three of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is trekking from Ulleri (about 2,055m) to Ghorepani (2,860m), which takes 5–6 hours and is 6–8 km. During the trek, you’ll have the opportunity to pass through the picturesque villages of Banthanti and Nangethanti, covered with green alpine environments and beautiful rhododendron forests.
Day four of Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking starts with an early morning excursion to Poon Hill (3,210m) to see the sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. Over breakfast, the team heads back to Ghorepani and embarks on the trek to Tadapani (2,630m), where you are treated to stunning views and stunning rhododendron forests in bloom. The trek gives you a once-in-a-lifetime high-altitude experience, with a range of stunning landscapes to feast your eyes on.
We continue the journey on the fifth day, departing Tadapani, and have a stunning downhill trek through rhododendron and oak forests with small wildlife and birds of various colors passing overhead.
The trek offers you wonderful sights of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South, gradually spreading into terraced landscapes and small traditional Gurung villages. After a few hours of relaxed walking, we’ll make our way down to Kimrong Khola, crossing a suspension bridge, and then begin a gentle climb along stone-paved paths and fields. Ultimately, we’ll arrive at the beautiful Gurung settlement of Chhomrong (2,170m), which serves as the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary.
On day six, we start our trek with a steep descent from Chhomrong, descending stone steps down to ford the Chhomrong Khola, and carrying on a gradual ascent to Sinuwa.
The path here winds through dense bamboo and rhododendron forests, providing a shaded and cool relief. The trail then gradually undulates, leading us through Bamboo and Dovan, where travelers tend to pause for a quick break or lunch. Upstream following Modi Khola, the trail goes on with a gradual but steady ascent.
The crown of our trek is reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m/13,549 ft) after passing through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m/12,139 ft). The reward for those who reach the final stage is a stunning 360-degree view of the top of Annapurna.
After breakfast to soak in the mountain views, we will make our way down to the picturesque Bamboo village, taking our return route on the same trail. Our descent hike from Bamboo at 2,345m brings us a whopping 1,700m down the banks of the Modi Khola. Upon arrival in Bamboo, we have the opportunity to take a quick walkabout of the village before overnighting at the village teahouse.
We’re set to trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda!
We’ll first tackle the climb up to Kuldi Ghar. To reach Lower Chomrong, we’ll make use of the stone steps that link Bamboo to Sinuwa. Next, let’s face a thousand stone stairs to reach Chhomrong. After finishing it, we’ll head down the steep hill to Jhinu Danda, where the hot springs await. Just a twenty-minute walk from there, we can soak and relax in the natural hot springs. We will be lodged at a cozy teahouse in Jhinu Danda.
Today is one of the easy days on the whole trek. Jhinu Danda trail is flat and we will be walking through pretty views. We have rice fields and green hills on the side as we walk. Enjoy the last day of trekking and drive back to Pokhara.

Useful Info
Best time for the trek
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is optimally undertaken during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. These seasons provide not only scenery of the mountains and an easy trekking experience but also clear skies, moderate temperatures, and dry trails. Spring has the added beauty of flowering rhododendrons, and autumn has the vibrancy of colorful cultural festivals and breathtaking views after the monsoons.
Food on the trek
While your stay at a hotel in Kathmandu does include breakfast, meals during the trekking period breakfast, lunch, and dinner are supplied.
Some of the staples of food in local cuisine are Sherpa stew, Tibetan bread, buckwheat, potatoes, and oats. Potatoes have since become a staple crop in this area after having been introduced as early as the early 1990s and now form a significant component of the diet. There is limited food at higher altitudes, most of which is potato-based. Because potatoes are high in carbohydrates, they supply the necessary energy for high-altitude trekking. Difficulty of the trek
Annapurna Base Camp Trek Difficulty.
Although the hike is not overly demanding, it does require traversing rugged terrain and climbing to high altitudes. You’ll be walking for several hours each day with a couple of rest days in between and altitudes over 4,000 meters, so a good level of fitness and endurance are essential. With the right preparation and mindset, even moderately fit people can get through the trek.
Permits for the trek
We need two permits to trek in the Annapurna region: the Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) card and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). You must carry these permits with you throughout the trek at all times.
