This trip passes through Sherpa settlements rich in history and customs, including Tengboche Monastery, Sagarmatha National Park, and, of course, the undiscovered vistas from Kala Patthar. It also features magnificent lakes and ice sheets. You will witness fauna like musk deer and go through the stunning, colorful Rhododendron forests, particularly in the spring.

The legendary Everest Base Camp journey starts with a 40-minute flight to Lukla, followed by a hike to Phakding and Namche Bazaar, a Sherpa hotel known as the entrance to Everest. After passing through Dingboche and continuing on to Lobuche (4940m), we must adapt to the increasing hardship as we ascend to higher altitudes. We reach Everest base camp (5,364 meters) on the last part of our trek. The massive Khumbu Ice Sheet, which starts at 4,900 meters and finishes at 7,600 meters, is visible to us at EBC. We hike back to Gorak Shep (5185m) after departing EBC. We go to the famous viewpoint Kala Patthar (5555m) early the next morning, where we are greeted with the most breathtaking views of Mt. Everest and the Khumbu peak.

Detailed Itinerary - Everest Base Camp Trek (13 Days)

Today, you arrive in Kathmandu where our representative will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel.

The Dudh Kosi River is beside us as we hike through the valley today. The Khumbu region’s little settlement of Jorsale, which is located immediately south of Namche Bazaar, is reached by rising higher and crossing the Dudh Kosi River on suspension bridges on multiple times. You will eventually arrive in Namche after a two-hour hike, with some amazing sights along the way, including breathtaking vistas of the alluring Mt. Everest (known in Nepali as Sagamartha). Authorities will examine your license as you enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale. After five or six more hours of arduous travel, we reach Namche Bazaar.

It is crucial for your safety to acclimate before traveling to higher altitudes. We will proceed for a day’s hike via the towns of Khunde and Khumjung, soaking in the breathtaking views of Everest, before heading back to Namche because it is advised that you remain active during the day. In addition to Everest, you may see Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and many more breathtaking peaks if the weather permits. Following breakfast, we will hike to the 3790-meter-high Syangboche airstrip. From there, we will rise towards Khunde, passing several Chorten (Buddhist stone constructions). After leaving Khunde, we follow the route east to Khumjung (3790m), the biggest settlement in the Khumbu district, which is located at the base of Mt. Khumbila, which means “God of Khumbu.” Following lunch in Khumbu, we travel to the Everest View Hotel, which is renowned for its breathtaking views of Everest, before making the four to five-hour climb down to Namche (3540m).

Before reaching Kenjoma, where it links with the road from Khumjung shortly before crossing numerous Mani stones (stones inscribed with sacred Buddhist prayers), the rather even journey to Tengboche, which takes about five hours, zigzags and passes through numerous valleys. This part of the hike offers breathtaking vistas of Mt. Ama Dablam and Everest. Before reaching Tengboche (3870m), we pass the little settlement of Sanasa, where the path falls to Phunki Thanga (3250m).

The trail then follows the slope and climbs steeply through pine forests, passing more Mani stones. Many of the highest peaks in the world, including Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Amadablam, Kantega, and Thamserku, can be seen from Tengboche.

Today, we travel downwards for three to four hours through woods before crossing the Imja Khola and passing through the hamlet of Pangboche, which is famous for its rock-walled fields. We will stay at Dingboche tonight.

It takes around 1.5 hours to reach the settlement of Thugla (4600m), where we have lunch at its tea house, after passing numerous Chortens (Tibetan temples & graves). Following lunch, we make our way to Lobuche Village (4940m) via a few tall peaks, including Mt. Pumori (7161m) and Mt. Nuptse (7861m). After leaving the Pheriche Aid Post in Pheriche (4371m), we go through an open valley before reaching Thukla. During the busiest trekking seasons, the aid post is staffed. After that, we head down to the little community of Lobuche’s yak pastures. The hike will take about five hours today. Tonight we stay at Lobuche.

We will start this morning with a two-hour walk to Gorakshep. At first, the trail is rather easy, but it gets harder over time. We get some amazing views of a number of tall peaks along the way, including Nuptse, Everest, and other massive summits. After passing through a moraine for almost 150 meters, the trail becomes easier and leads to Gorakshep, one of the highest and most remote villages on earth.

We hiked down a track beside the Khumbu ice sheet in the direction of EBC after stopping for lunch. Before traversing the glacier and entering the EBC zone (5360m), the hike around the ice sheet takes around 1.5 hours. You will have the chance to socialize and exchange stories with other climbers at base camp. Views of the Khumbu ice sheet and glacier, with its terrifying and hazardous fissures, are available from EBC. After that, it will take us six to seven hours to descend to Gorakshep.

We set out on our journey at around 4 a.m. in the chilly predawn darkness (-10 to -14 C). At this altitude, chilly breezes are typical. As Everest emerges to the east, towering peaks like Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Changtse loom before us. We don’t get a 360-degree up-close and aerial picture of Mount Everest until we reach Kala Patthar (5550m). We will return to Lobuche and then Pangboche for a restful night’s sleep after admiring the expansive vistas and frantically taking pictures. Included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After leaving Debuche, we descended to Phunkithanga (3200m) after a rather easy 30-minute walk to Tengboche. Our last journey is to Namche, where we can share the highlights and celebrate our accomplishments. Additionally, this is your final chance to enjoy the splendor of these majestic peaks. You can visit the bread shop, hang out in a pub, and re-establish your connection to the outside world on the internet at Namche!

The 7-hour hike from Namche to Lukla, which is largely downhill with a few stretches of flat ground, makes for a rather long day. After leaving Sagarmatha National Park, we eventually arrive in Lukla, where we spend the night.

We will be in Kathmandu in about half an hour with our morning flight. Many of the world’s highest peaks in the Himalaya Ranges will be visible from above during the journey. You will be escorted to your accommodation from the airport by your guide.

Today is the last day when you departure for your home country.

2 weeks to EBC with Tindu

My Dad and I were fortunate enough to have Tindu guide us for 2 weeks to EBC.
Our trip was amazing and Tindu made it just that!
We felt nothing but confident in his capabilities and experience but more than that he was beautifully cheeky and funny which I really needed for the challenging parts!
I would recommend Tindu again and again and hope to travel with him again in the future.
