Detailed Itinerary - Tilicho, Annapurna Circuit Short Trek (10 Days)

We will take a bus to Besisahar today, which will take about six to seven hours, and a jeep to Jagat before arriving in the busy town of Dharapani (1860m). After that, we proceed to Chame, which is situated alongside the Marsyangdi River. Annapurna II (7,937m), Lamjung Himal (6,932m), Manaslu (8,154m), and Peak 29 (7,833m) can all be seen in some amazing views.

After departing Chame, we travel to the town of Telekhu, where we may enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Pisang (6091m) and the Annapurna Ranges. The trail continues to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River, where we must over a suspension bridge once more. After that, we climb through a pine forest and enter the upper Manang Valley before arriving at Pisang.

Our journey into the upper Manang region starts in Pisang. We hike to Braga today, a Tibetan village with distinctive architecture and dwellings built one after the other. The largest Buddhist temple in the Manang area, the Gompa, is one of the city’s primary draws. Trekkers who come here to acclimate before continuing on to higher altitudes also love Manang.

The acclimatization day at Manang on Day 4 of the Annapurna Circuit is essential for the body to adjust to the increased altitude and decreased oxygen levels. To help acclimate and get ready for the difficult Thorong La Pass, trekkers do short walks to higher heights, including to Ice Lake or Praen Goopa. These excursions, which usually last a few hours, provide chances to take in the Manang region’s distinctive culture and natural beauty.

Say goodbye to Manang as you set off along the scenic trail beside the Marsyangdi River. The path gradually leads you up towards Siri Kharka, treating you to stunning views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak along the way. You’ll spend the night in Siri Kharka.

Get ready for an adventure as you tackle the rugged terrain and navigate through areas prone to landslides. After about 4 to 5 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, surrounded by breathtaking peaks. You’ll be staying overnight at Tilicho Base Camp or right by the lake.

In the morning, take some time to soak in the beauty of Tilicho Lake, with its stunning turquoise waters set against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. After enjoying the views, you’ll retrace your steps back to Siri Kharka for another overnight stay.

Leaving Siri Kharka, you’ll descend to Khangsar village and reconnect with the main Annapurna Circuit trail. The route then gradually ascends towards Yak Kharka, a high pastureland that offers fantastic views of Annapurna III and the Chulu peaks. You’ll spend the night at Yak Kharka.

Trek uphill through the beautiful alpine landscapes to reach Thorong Phedi, the base camp for the Thorong La Pass. Take some time to rest and prepare for the challenging crossing of the pass the next day. You’ll stay overnight at Thorong Phedi.

Start your day early to cross the Thorong La Pass, the highest point of your trek, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Himalayas. After a long and steep descent, you’ll reach Muktinath, a sacred site for pilgrims. Once you’ve explored Muktinath, you’ll drive to Jomsom for a well

Frequently Asked Questions - Tilicho, Annapurna Circuit Short Trek

This short trek typically takes 10–14 days, depending on your starting point, acclimatization days, and walking pace.

It is considered moderately difficult to strenuous, mainly due to the high altitude, steep trails, and the long ascent to Thorong La Pass.

The highest elevation is Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters (17,769 ft).
Tilicho Lake lies at 4,919 meters (16,138 ft).

Reaching Tilicho Lake is moderately challenging due to steep sections and narrow trails, especially the “Landslide Area,” which requires careful walking.

Trekkers need:

  • ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit)
  • TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System)

The best seasons are:

  • Spring (March–May)

  • Autumn (September–November)
These provide clear skies, stable weather, and safer conditions for Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass.

Beginners with good fitness can do it, but prior trekking experience is recommended because of the high altitude and long days.

Yes. The trek reaches extreme heights, so acclimatization, hydration, and proper pacing are crucial to avoid acute mountain sickness (AMS).

The cost ranges from USD 700–1,400, depending on whether you trek independently or through a guided package with porter support.

You’ll see incredible views of:

  • Annapurna II, III, and IV

Useful Info

Custom itinerary if needed

Please be aware that the schedule above is only a basic recommendation. Rarely, we may need to change the itinerary because of uncontrollable events like bad weather, natural disasters, or landslides. After talking to everyone on the team, your trek leader will choose the best course of action in this situation. In the same way, we advise you to factor in an additional two days so that you won’t miss your international trip home even if the trek is delayed.

Best time to travel

As autumn rolls in from September to November, the weather tends to be quite stable, with clear skies that offer stunning mountain views. This time of year also makes it safer to cross Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass, although the nights can get pretty chilly at those high altitudes.

When spring arrives, from March to May, the trails come alive with blooming rhododendrons, and the days warm up with longer hours of daylight. It’s a fantastic season for photography, as the landscapes burst with color, but do keep in mind that the higher elevations can still be a bit nippy at night.

Trek Difficulty

It’s a difficult walk, the Annapurna walk including Tilicho Lake hike. With frequent pauses to take in the breathtaking mountain views, the hike often lasts four to seven hours each day. On the Annapurna, trekking routes include straight roadways, sharp descents, and lengthy climbs. Although prior hiking experience would be beneficial, technical expertise and abilities are not required.

Trekkers can finish the Annapurna Trek with Tilicho Lake if they can hike for five to six hours each day. Please keep in mind that hiking at higher elevations requires greater physical effort than hiking at lower elevations.

Your stamina will be improved by daily exercise and running for a few weeks prior to the trip; the more fit you are, the more fun your trekking experience will be. To join the Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake, you must be healthy with normal physical fitness and a good dose of positive attitude, self-confidence, and determination.

WIFI services

Most teahouses have electricity, although you may have to pay a little price to charge your gadgets. Many teahouses also have Wi-Fi, albeit it can be expensive and slow, particularly in more populous villages.

Tindu was our guide for 10 amazing days…

Tindu was our guide for 10 amazing days on our trek in Nepal. Communication was easy, as he spoke English so well. He was calm and relaxed but I felt safe and secure with him as a guide none-the-less. In fact, I did become unwell on our trip, but got through with his care. He was also super knowledgeable, with tons of guiding experience. Making us laugh and feel welcome. Thanks for an epic time Tindu! If you’re looking for a wonderful experience, look no further!
